How to get here

By road from Whitehorse

Dawson City is about 530 km north of Whitehorse on the North Klondike Highway (Highway 2). The drive takes about 6 hours, with fuel at Carmacks and Stewart Crossing. Once in town, follow Front Street north along the river. The depot is the red-roofed building beside the rail yard.

By road from Alaska

The Top of the World Highway (Highway 9) is usually open from mid-May to mid-September and ends at the free seasonal river ferry across the Yukon River. The ferry lands on Front Street, about a 5-minute drive south of the depot. Allow time for border hours, which are limited.

By air

Dawson City Airport is 19 km east of town on Highway 2, with scheduled summer flights from Whitehorse. A taxi to the depot takes about 15 minutes. Some hotels offer a shuttle.

Parking & walking

There is a free gravel lot beside the depot with 40 car spaces and 6 RV-length spaces. Most downtown hotels are within a 10-minute walk along the boardwalks.
